Low-carbon fuel credits promote clean energy without burdening taxpayers

Every day we hear about how the climate crisis is impacting our city, our state, our country and the planet. The 2010s were the hottest on record. Australia is on fire. Our oceans are warming and acidifying.

Now is the time to build a reliable, clean energy market in the United States, starting with action from our statehouses. Thankfully, New York is leading. Last summer, Governor Andrew Cuomo and the legislature came together to pass the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, committing to reduce planet-warming pollution 85% below 1990 levels by 2050, and offset the remaining 15%. This sets us on a path to take real action to lower emissions and make our communities more sustainable—but it’s going to take a lot of work to achieve these goals.
