NEW YORK FARM BUREAU JOINS CLEAN FUELS NEW YORK COALITION

The Clean Fuels New York Coalition welcomes New York Farm Bureau to the coalition to advocate for a low carbon fuel standard

New York, NY (February 27, 2020)New York Farm Bureau (NYFB) joined the Clean Fuels New York Coalition to advocate for the introduction of a low carbon fuel standard (LCFS), an important policy opportunity for New York farmers to invest in the production of biofuels and reach the state’s climate goals.

If implemented, an LCFS would drive investment in clean transportation alternatives, including biofuels and electric vehicles, creating an efficient, cost-effective way to reduce CO2 emissions and pollution from the transportation sector. With increased investment directed towards the biofuels industry, New York farmers would have an economic opportunity to scale biofuel production for the state.

“For years now, New York farmers have been struggling financially. A low carbon fuel standard is a great opportunity to invest in biofuels, further reduce on-farm emissions and spur economic development for local farmers across the state. We are excited to join the Clean Fuels New York Coalition to serve our members and strengthen agriculture in New York,” said Elizabeth Wolters, the Deputy Director of Public Policy for New York Farm Bureau.

A coalition of leading environmental, public health and energy groups led by the New York League of Conservation Voters, the Clean Fuels NY Coalition was formed to demonstrate the diverse support for the LCFS across industries.
