“The Clean Fuels New York coalition applauds Governor Cuomo’s proposal to accelerate investment in electric vehicle infrastructure and mass transit. As the largest contributor to the state’s harmful greenhouse gas emissions, transportation requires big, comprehensive solutions. Buses, cars and trucks overwhelmingly rely on petroleum-based fuels, which represent a significant portion of New York’s harmful air pollution. To meet the ambitious clean energy goals adopted in the Climate Leadership and Protection Act (CLCPA), we urge New York to establish a Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) in the upcoming executive budget. 50% of New Yorkers live with failing air quality, and New York City’s air quality consistently ranked amongst the lowest in the nation.
